Annual Dinner & Lecture 2012

  • 11 Feb 2012
  • 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Swifts, 68 Darling Point Rd, Darling Point, Sydney
Guest dinner speaker: Clive Lucas, OBE; 'The history and conservation of Swifts'

Swifts is a Gothic-Revival mansion, built in the 1880s for brewing magnate, Sir Robert Lucas-Tooth. It has survived demolition, unlike many other Darling Point houses, but by the 1990s was in a poor state. The Moran family acquired Swifts in 1997 and commenced major restoration work under the guidance of architects, Clive Lucas, Stapleton & Partners.

Clive Lucas is an eminent conservation architect who has been in practice since 1970. Lucas' work has helped set standard practices for building conservation in Australia - he has won numerous awards for his work, is a noted architectural historian and has generously devoted his time to many organisations dealing with Australia's built and moveable heritage.

Cost: $95 per person, includes a 3-course dinner with wine.
