SELF-DRIVE TOUR TO MAITLAND AND PORT MACQUARIE

Itinerary
Saturday 17th 10.45am
View two historic buildings c.1825 & 1829 and their colonial collections with lunch on arrival.
In the afternoon we visit another historic homestead with its collection of outbuildings.
Sunday 18th May 10..00am
A guided walking tour of historic East Maitland with lunch at the Masonic Temple.
At 12.30 we will leave to drive to Port Macquarie ( 2 1/2 hours). We meet again out the front of the award winning Port Macquarie Museum at 22 Clarence St Port Macquarie for an after-hours tour of this interesting museum at 3.30pm. Dinner and evening your own.
Monday 19th May 9.30am meet at the Glasshouse Theatre, 30-42 Clarence St to begin a guided walking tour with a local historian. It is suggested we park in the St Thomas’ church carpark before commencing the 9.30am walk only 5 minutes away.
After viewing historic colonial remnants at the theatre the walk continues to St Thomas’ Church (1824-28) with its cedar pew box interior and then onto to the nearby cemetery. (view the grave of architect John Verge). Lunch will follow. It is best that we car pool at this point to visit our last venue.
At 1.00pm we leave for the gates of the National Park (12 kms) to visit the Lake Innes Ruins off Ocean Drive, guided by a ranger.
Depending on the number of participants we will make further suggestions for dinner Saturday and Sunday nights should you wish to join a group.
Cost $345 / person includes tours and entry fees, three lunches and an afternoon tea.
